The sharks are beginning to circle Super Bowl 2026.
Jeffrey Benson, the Director of Operations at professional betting-friendly sportsbook Circa in Las Vegas, posted on X that they took a $1.1 million bet on the New England Patriots’ moneyline at +188 odds.
The bet would win over $2 million if the Patriots upset the favored Seattle Seahawks.
New England opened as a 3.5-point underdog against the spread on a lookahead line and it bumped to Seattle favored by 4 1/2 points, though BetRivers Sportsbook moved them to +5.5.
Circa Sportsbook is one of the few sportsbooks in America that welcomes action from any and all professional bettors, often taking bets from whales like this one.
In my early predictions column, I projected the Patriots would move down, perhaps as low as 3.5 by gametime, but that has not happened yet despite the largest reported bet coming in on New England.
Perhaps a reason for the pessimism surrounding the Patriots is a potential injury suffered by Drake Maye, who appeared to injure his shoulder on a third-quarter scramble, coming up holding his throwing arm.

Maye was fine for the rest of the game, as the Patriots mostly handed the ball off to running back Rhamondre Stevenson throughout the fourth quarter as weather conditions worsened in Denver.
The Seahawks were the No. 1 team in DVOA according to FTN, while New England was much further down the list at No. 9, putting them No. 5 in the AFC behind the Texans, Jaguars, Broncos, and Bills.
