The Jets will see a familiar face on Sunday when Sam Darnold lines up at quarterback for the Vikings in London.
It has been three years since the Jets decided to trade Darnold after just three seasons with the team. General manager Joe Douglas faced a huge decision in 2021 about whether to stick with Darnold or draft a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick.
Three years later, the decision to trade Darnold is hard to evaluate. But let’s try.
The easy thing to do is say the Jets screwed up based on Darnold’s hot start to this season. The Vikings are 4-0, and Darnold has a league-best 11 touchdowns. The Jets, of course, drafted Zach Wilson with that No. 2 pick, and he is currently holding a clipboard in Denver.
