Giants tight end Tommy Sweeney suffered a scary medical event at practice on Monday.
It is unclear what triggered the event, but he was tended to on a side field and ultimately carted off.
“Tommy Sweeney had a medical event and is under the care of medical professionals in the Giants athletic training room. He is stable, alert and conversant,” the Giants said in a statement.
Sweeney is entering his fourth season in the NFL after spending three years on the Bills.
He appeared in five games and had one reception last season.
He signed a one-year deal worth $1.1 million with the Giants this offseason.
Sweeney caught a touchdown pass in the Giants’ preseason game against the Lions on Aug. 11.
